Security Assessment Advisor

Clients

Which apps Security Assessment Advisor works from, what the experience looks like in each, and what differs between them.

Two things vary between clients, and the server adapts to each connection.

  • Interactive views. Where the client can draw them, the scoping wizard, the walk-through and the coverage dashboard appear as forms and charts. Where it cannot, the same workflow runs as text. Nothing is missing from the text path.
  • Files on your disk. When the server runs on your own machine, exports can be written where you ask. On the hosted service, a file written inside the container would be out of reach, so documents come back as a short-lived download link or attached to the answer.

The server decides which column a client is in from what the client declares when it connects. It fails closed: a client it does not recognise is treated as text-only, because telling the assistant a form has appeared when the screen is blank is the worst outcome. If a client you use draws views and is getting text, the deployment guide on the customer portal explains the two settings that force it.
